Dirty Kanza, park, concert, oh my!
Hey,
So we are really enjoying the summer and this week was a lot of fun. Someone from our ward at church entered the Dirty Kanza here in town. It's a bicycle race that is 200, 110, and 50 miles race through the Flint Hills. It's a big event here and we really do support the people in the race. Well, Saturday the first of June we were trying to figure out what do for the evening. Stephen had the night off and we wanted to go enjoy the nice cool weather while we have it. Well...it just so happens while we were discussing. The person's wife posted that he was about 30min. out before he crossed the finish line downtown. So we quickly gathered the kids and ourselves and got to the finish line. We were there cheering him on as he crossed with tons of other people. We then enjoyed funnel cake and good conversation with people around us. It was nice to get to experience the race and cheer people on as they crossed the line. We were there when the first five from the 200 mile race crossed. Ginny enjoyed it all. We then grabbed a pizza and went home to spend time as a family.

On Tuesday, we decided to make a night of having fun. Stephen went and bought a swing for Miles that usually is over 100 dollars and we got it for twenty dollars. Then we decided to head out to have dinner at Taco Bell. Ginny loves the cheese roll up and is now getting into soft tacos. We are excited to see if she will eat soft tacos at home. Anyways, we then headed to the park to play some. I was mostly sitting as I had Miles while Stephen chased Ginny around the park. Usually, she won't go down the slides at all. Not if she is with someone or by herself she had a phobia of slides. Anyways, she spent time in the swihgs like usually. Then she started to climb and try different things avoiding the slides. Well, Stephen took Miles and I spent time with her at the park. Well, Ginny wanted me to slide down with her on the slide. I was game and we went down. Then she started to go down by herself over and over and over again. I think we finally got rid of that phobia of hers. After the park we then stopped to get milkshakes to end the day.

On Wednesday, Ginny, Miles, and I went with a friend and a girl she was babysitting to a concert put on by Mr. Stinkyfeet. He sang and danced for the kids in the audience. We had sandwiches for lunch while we were there. Ginny, had a lot of friends seeing her friends from the sitters as well as from church. Miles of course slept through the whole concert.

Yesterday, Stephen's mom was able to come down to spend time with me and the kids. Ginny truly enjoyed her time with her Grandma. Stephen and I with the kids went to concert at the park where we listened to the band play. While we were there we had our dinner and dessert. It was a lot of fun and we always enjoy listening to music while spending time with friends.
Today, is movie day in our house. I made some "pop pop" (popcorn) for Ginny and myself and we are enjoying our time watching movies and just relaxing. Of course she fell asleep during the first movie with a tummy full of popcorn. OH...yeah...Miles is officially smiling at people. It's amazing how much he is growing.

Last Week
Hey,
So Stephen and I want to enjoy our summer here in this semi small town. It's small to us as we both grew up in a city. Anyways, we signed all of us even Miles up for the summer reading program at the library. Ginny and Miles need to complete 100 minutes of listening to someone read. While Stephen and I have to read five books from different genre's before the end of July. So we are all working on doing these things. Then the library has these concerts on Wednesday at noon. Ginny, Miles, and myself have went to one last week. She was amazing experience. Ginny danced her little tale off.

Then, Thursday nights we go to a park where we watch the city band play. Ginny gets to play at the park and we all enjoy listening to the band play. Stephen will also make a milkshake run at sonic before it starts so we get to have our desserts while listening.

Friday and Saturday we spent at home relaxing and watching movies.

One Month Old Miles
Hey,
You heard right, Miles turned a month old. It's amazing to think how fast it's all going with him. He is still a quite little nurser and he will sleep up to five hours at night if I let him. He is at 21 inches long and just over 9lbs now. Also he is starting to smile more and more. He loves his big sister Ginny, other then when she gets in his face. He is a mama-boy though as in the evenings it's me and no else when he hits his colic stage at 3pm. I have learned how to eat one handed almost everything. Well...here are some pictures of him.

Miles Alton is here
Hey,
So life has taken a huge turn as of lately. On April 1st, I told Stephen that I don't believe that I would be able to make it out of April without having a c-section. At about 35 weeks, I was admitted to the hospital for the weekend because of high blood pressure, low fluids, and low platelets. Then i was on strict bed rest but told that if I had anything go wrong we would just deliver. I hit 37 weeks which was was amazing as I thought I would have Miles before 36 weeks. On April 30th, I woke up feeling out of it but cleaned the house as I thought it was time to get off bed rest since I was 37 weeks. I made sure everything was packed up ready to go just in case. Stephen woke up and told me, "I don't think today is going to be the day." I just chuckled. We headed to my doctor's appointment to find out my blood pressure was too high. My doctor came in and unhooked me from the NST and said that today was the day. She asked me when I last ate as I was having a c-section. So we had to wait till ten pm before I went in.
My mom came down and was here when I was hooked up and ready to go in. It was a totally different experience from my emergency c-section that I had with Ginny. I didn't jump when i got the spinal and I even felt Miles move during the spinal. I was having a good conversation with the doctors and nurses while they were getting me ready. Finally, Stephen came in and it was time. I didn't have the shakes and i was relaxed as they did the c-section. Miles though surprised my doctor, when she cut me open Miles looked right up at at her. She had to move his head before she could get him because he was looking at her. He was ready and he was screaming.
Miles was 8lbs 9.2 oz and 20 inches long and was born at 10:14pm.
He had a great start and was able to breastfeed right away. Then it went down hill with his blood sugar. Miles was in NICU for 12 hrs and was able to be with me. I was able to breastfeed him every two hours even. It was a nice change from Ginny's birth. Ginny loves her brother from the first time she saw him. It makes me think that they were best friend in heaven. When she came in to see me she was given a bear to give to her brother. She came towards me as we talked about Miles being in my belly. When I told her that I don't have Miles she walked to my mom who was holding him. It clicked in her mind and she was in love. She's been a good help for the most part as a two year old can. I can't wait to see how their relationship changes.

Ginny turns 2 years Old
Hey,
I can't believe my little girl is now two years old. I just remember how wonderful her pregnancy is and how different her brother's is. It amazes me though that I have this independent two year old how lights up my life every single day. Ginny has learned so much this past year and her vocabulary has picked up a ton in the past couple of months. She can say close to two hundred words or so. She tries to say much more but around two hundred words that you can actually understand. She knows her manners and always says "Thank you" when you hand her things. Of course she like normal toddlers have their melt downs and she has them pretty often. But some days we have very little melt downs with her and it is so much fun. Lately, she has even been telling us when she is tired by saying, "I'm tired." Of course last night she kept repeating it as she fell asleep. She is finally realizing that their is a baby in my tummy. We are helping her get excited to have a baby brother in her life. I can't wait to see how she does with her baby brother Miles (who can make his appearance anytime.)She loves to cuddle with her Daddy and of course me. She loves to give us kisses and hugs and she will even give a kiss to Miles. She loves animals like no other. She knows most animal noises on her own and she is slowly learning the alphabet with flashcards. She loves watching Elmo on tv as well as The Chew and Dancing with the Stars.
Things that I am looking forward to this year is watching her grow more. I wish she could stay little but I know she needs to grow. This summer, while her brother is sleeping during the day, I have plans to do a lot of teaching things with her. I really want her to be able to succeed in school when she does enter it. We are going to be making food and just exploring the world around us. I can't wait to see her with her brother and I know it will be a challenge at first. Most likely she will just keep loving on him like crazy. Though, it will be a transition with her as she is a Mommy's girl and she even gets jealous of her Daddy at times. But I know she will handle it well. It's going to be hard when I go back to full time school in the fall leaving her and her baby brother with the sitters but I know she will do great and show her brother the ropes. I also can't wait to sign her up for another session of swim lessons this summer and hope that she does great as she done in the past. Also signing her and her brother up for the library summer reading program. Reading is a big thing in our family and and I want to be able to share the joy with her.
Happy Birthday Ginny,
Kendra
