Easter

Hey, So this year I knew that Easter would be a lot of fun with Ginny. She's at that fun age when she can actually go Easter egg looking on her own. Well, we went to one of the local parks where they were having a huge Easter Egg hunt this year. I was nervous because it stormed that night that it would be cancelled. We were in luck though as it was still going on. They had the place marked off by age groups and Ginny was in the youngest group. They had candy thrown in a field for the kids. I just had to show Ginny one time what to do with the candy. Then she was off, and man was she off on her own. She would not only grab one candy at a time but six or even eight pieces at time before she put it in her basket. Her basket is full of candy that of course she gets to share with Daddy as I (Mommy) can't have any of it until Miles is born. -Kendra

The Zoo

Hey, So one thing about where we live we have a very nice zoo. It's nice that they have a good assortment of animals but also that it's completely free to go visit. So we always enjoy taking Ginny to see the many animals at the zoo. Our favorite time is when the zookeepers are feeding the animals. They always start out feeding the ducks which is so fun to watch. The ducks swim on top of each other to get to the food the guys are throwing out at them. Then they go around the park feeding the many animals. Ginny, got to witness the vultures being fed for the first time. It scared her as they kept fighting over the same food. As we went around the zoo, Stephen or myself would say the animals name and she would try to repeat it. We have been working hard on increasing her vocabulary at home and anywhere we go. Here are some pictures that I took of our wonderful zoo. -Kendra

Playing at the Park

Hey, Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, things have gotten busy with Miles birth coming quickly. Anyways, so lately we have had one or two nice days here in Kansas. Which is nice with all the snow we have been getting. Stephen and I agreed to take advantage of the nice weather as much as we can. So we have been to the park many times with Ginny to just let her run and play. She has even had a chance as you can see to sit in the big girl swing and swing a little. Of course she was a little nervous. Kk.

Heroes

Every child has a hero either fictional or someone in real life. Popular to many young boys, batman and superman are two examples of fictional heroes. Some children would say a family member such as their mom, dad, and even grandparents are their heroes. There are many heroes that live among us as well, such as firefighters, teachers, and airplane pilots. Some would agree that firefighters risk their lives every time they go into a burning building. No one in the world was prepared to see several firefighters risk their lives on September 11th, 2001. These firefighters climbed millions of stairs to rescue thousands of people after a plane crashed into the twin towers. These men and women are heroes not only for saving lives but risking it all for the greater good. As mentioned above teachers are of often thought of as heroes as well. Not only are teachers teaching the future generations, but they are known to become heroes in the lives of their students and parents. Several teachers risked their lives against a gunman in their school in December 2012. One teacher heard gunshots in the hallway; she then quickly hid all of her first-grade students in the classroom. After that, she stood up to the gunman when he entered her classroom and told him that there were no kids there. Another teacher in the same building quietly whispered her love for each student fearing that would be the last thing they ever heard. These two teachers and many others were heroes to their students as well as the parents. They were brave and acted quickly to protect the students who were put in their care. Another example of a hero is an airplane pilot. Hundreds of airplanes take to the air carrying men, women, and children to their destination. One these flights, the pilots became a hero by safety landing a plane full of passengers in the Hudson Bay. He barely missed the tall buildings of New York City to successfully land, keeping thousands of people alive. Out of the hundred passengers no one and all were safely rescued. Airplane pilots are given so much trust from their passengers to keep them safe while in flight. They are heroes because of their quick thinking in difficult situations. Firefighters, teachers, and pilots are some of those heroes who rarely praised for what they do. They are superman and batman to those who lives that they have touched.

The Sickies

Hey, Sorry I haven't been posting a lot lately, life is just hectic at our house. Stephen was switched to overnights and I am teaching every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Then I had three online classes to do on top of all that. Well, one Sunday morning, I woke up and felt a little girl next to me snuggled up close. I felt her head and it was burning up. Stephen was at work and I decided to take her temperature. It was over a hundred. We decided that it was best to stay home from church and see what was going on. Ginny, fever kept climbing at a rapid pace. We decided that for her safety and my thought was she had the flu. We took her to the ER, as our walk-in was not taking any more patients. We found out that Ginny, did not have the flu but a very serious viral infection. We were told to keep her on pain meds and watch her temperature. At one point on Monday her temperature was close to 104. Stephen called her doctor to see if there was something we could do to help her. There was not just stay on top of her meds. I decided to stay home with her the next day and thankfully, she was starting to get better. Of course as she was nearing getting better, I started to get the worse sore throat imaginable. Found out, from going to the doctor's on Thursday, that I did not have strep but the same viral infection. I was lucky enough that my fever stayed at 99 and did not climb any higher. But man...did it hit me hard. Of course, then Stephen started to come down with the same thing. He had to call into work several days because his fever was close to 104 as well. We knew at this time that there was nothing we could do except just wait the illness out. Of course I was still struggling with an extremely sore throat, and taking care of Stephen and Ginny who were still sick. Ginny of course was better before Stephen and myself. Finally, on Valentine's day, Stephen was at the end of his illness. I was still dealing with the recaps from the viral infection. Which had decided to drain into my ears. Which caused me to have a double ear infection and a sinus infection. Thankfully, I can take some meds to help with those things. On the 15th, Stephen and I went to stay the night at a four star hotel while my mom watched Ginny. We decided it was best to celebrate not only Valentine's day but also our four year anniversary (which isn't tell July), as Miles would be only a month old. It was a nice stay at the hotel and we were even on the club level. We had so much fun just sitting in our room and watching cable (food network). We were still both recovery from the viral infection. Then on the 17th, we had the pleasure to go to our newest nephew Reed's blessing. Stephen was pretty happy to be able to be apart of the blessing. We then were able to celebrate his older sister's second birthday. It was so neat to be with family and watching Ginny play with her cousin Addie. Ginny of course loved Reed and just kept watching him. It made me realize how much I can't wait for her to see her own little brother in a few months. Kk
