Deep Breaths

Hey,
Sorry I haven't written in awhile. It does seem like no one really reads my blog anyways. So, things have been hectic. But I'll get to that in another post. I just want to talk about how much it bothers me when certain people look down upon me. Sure I am not a stright A student and am not a great speller. But I have the passion and the drive to become a teacher. Even if it's taking me longer to get there.

But it's not only that, I am getting looked down upon because I have a child and in school. I couldn't wait to become a mother but being a mother does not mean that I need to give up my dream of getting a degree. What would that say to Ginny, if I just said, because you were born. I couldn't accomplish my dream. That would also make me resent having a baby in the first place. How could a resent my beautiful brown hair hazel eyed little girl.

Also, I am not the prefect church member. I get that. I am not there every Sunday at church and I am not sealed to my husband. I totally get why people look down upon me. But they don't know me. They can't tell if I am having problems with my RA that day or am taking care of my husband who is in pain. They don't understand that I wanted my sister's at my wedding actually needed them there to see me get married. They don't understand that I will get sealed when the Kansas City temple is done.

Another thing is that I don't like being pressured. Please don't pressure me to get pregnant soon just because someone else in the ward is already pregnant with their next child. We are waiting until I am done with school so that I don't feel overwhelmed. Especially when I am this close in graduating and becoming a teacher. I love my daughter but I can wait until I am done.

Please also don't pressure me to being a stay at home mom. You don't realize how much I rather be home with my daughter then getting a career. But what happens if my hsuband can't work or what happens if by chance he passes away. I won't be able to survive in this world without a career in the backups. Also I would love to be a stay at home mom but right not I need to do this first. I need to be able to be able to support my children and myself if something does happen. Because life is short.

Book Covers

Hey,
I am waiting for a video to finish downloading of Ginny to send to my family. So I thought I write about something that I am talking about in one of my classes. So I am in a young adult lit. class and we were talking about how adults are nervous to read young adult books. They are not nervous that they won't like it but they are nervous on how other people percieve them when "caught" reading a young adult book. We also talked about book covers. In a couple of weeks, I have to pick a book out to read based on what I like on the cover. We talk about how young adults pick books based on their covers. I wonder if that is true though. Do I, Kendra, pick books out to read by their cover. Then I think that yes I do choose some of my books by recommendation. Or even books that are from certain authors. But covers to me is one important aspect. Yes, we are not suppose to judge a book by it's cover as the saying goes.
But people do choose books by it's cover. I choose a lot of my books by their cover and so far I haven't been led a stray. Sure some of the books covers match nothing in the book but they kept my attention. It's something that makes me want to read them if they have a wonderful cover. Let me tell you that the Harry Potter series was not choosen by it's cover but by a teacher who told me to read it. Though some of my favorite books have been chosen by it's cover. One of those would be the Fallen series.
The fallen series has a cover that kept my attention so much that I wanted to see what it was about. I wanted to know more about this book and who the girl on the cover was. Sure enough the book was wonderful and I wanted to read the rest of the series. So why do people choose books by their covers even when people say not to judge a book by it's cover. Is it suppose to lure us to the book enough so we will read the back flap. I don't know, I see more people looking at young adult books though based on their cover rather then anything else.

Family Time

Hey,
So we decided it was time to head up to Olathe, Kansas to celebrate our niece Addie's first birthday. I can't believe that she is turning a year old already. I remember when I got the text on my phone saying that Natalie was in labor. Then recieving a text saying that Addie was born. Who am I kidding, I remember recieving text messages saying that Natalie was pregnant then myself finding out that I was pregnant a month later. It's been nice to have a sister-in-law who was pregnant with a little girl at the same time as myself. I was really lucky to have not just one but two sister-in-laws pregnant at the same time. My first niece was born in October and then it was Addie in February. Then Ginny came in Apirl. It's been fun to have the girls so close in age. Ginny is still not so sure about her cousins especially Addie as we see her more.
Anyways, so we rushed up to Olathe to go to Addie's birthday party and say goodbye to Jimmy for awhile. Addie was actually pretty good at going over her giant cupcake. Ginny, loved eating her mini cupcake that I let her have. It was nice to talk to family and watch the girls simi interact with each other. Addie kept taking Ginny's toy and running away and Ginny would look at me. I was so tempted to say to Addie, just you wait Addie. Ginny will be walking soon and would be going after her toys.
We didn't stay very long up in Olathe but it was a nice break from here. Oh did I mention that Ginny is crawling offical now. Also she is now pulling herself on things so nothing is safe. Not even the cork of the coasters. It resulted in a Poison control call.

By the way...cork is not toxic.

Graduating Soon in May 2013

Hey,
So it's pretty much offical now that I will be graduating in a year. That is if I pass my classes and my huge test to get my teaching license. But, we are going to think positive and say that I will graduate in May 2013. So you better keep your calender's free then. I can say it's so exciting to be able to see the end is that near. I am super excited.
Anyways, classes are going really well. I am really enjoying my block 1 classes. I love two of the three teachers. I haven't really seen much of the other teacher to base my reaction off of her. But the two guys are really nice. Then we have my lovely, literature class that I am taking this semister on top of that. Can I say that I love it. It's a literature class just about young adult books. So far it's pretty easy class and the professor has a love for young adult books which helps by far. Also I have a few of my block 1 classmates in that class as well.
So, some things about the block 1 classes is that we get to teach lessons to kids. Also another would be that we are with the same classmates till we graduate pretty much. Which I finally opened up and meet a couple of them. Two of them know my sister-in-law. Actually they graduated with her. Which can I say is totally cool. Anyways, this coming Tuesday, I get to teach to preschool about rockets. My group is going to be super heros. I still need to come up with a name for myself. I'll have to ask my brother-in-laws.
It was such a relief on Wednesday to find out that I passed my cursive handwriting test. Last semister I had to appeal a board for the chance to stay in block 1 and finish the two test that I couldn't pass, which were Spelling and Cursive handwriting. On Tuesday, I took my spelling test for the eleventh time and finally passed. I swear I almost screamed for joy. Then Wednesday morning I found out that I also passed my cursive just under the wire. So I was finally able to feel like I was going to stay in block 1.
Well...I better get some sleep as I have a little girl who is teething and in a lot of pain.
